WLA Begins Fifth Year

WLA recently celebrated the fourth year of its founding.  The firm has enjoyed healthy growth, and is thankful to its clients for their support and repeat business, and to its staff for outstanding service. 

 

Madison Salander and Katie Pekarek Attend Wetland Delineation Training

Madison Salander (WLA Omaha) and Katie Pekarek (WLA Lincoln) received wetland delineation training from the Wetland Training Institute. The training included topics such as wetland hydrology, hydric soils indicators, and hydrophytic vegetation. Katie is a biological systems engineer and has had previous experience with wetlands during the pursuit of her master’s degree. Madison is a biologist who has a variety of GPS and GIS experience and has performed research in riparian forests. Both Katie and Madison enjoy working outdoors and are excited to get started on WLA wetland projects.

 

Tom Senne and Amanda Medcalf Attend ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Training

Tom Senne (WLA Omaha) and Amanda Medcalf (WLA Lincoln) completed ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Training on February 16^th and 17^th in Dallas, Texas.  The training was given by the American Society for Quality and included 24 hours of online training material in addition to the class in Dallas.  The online portion focused on the elements of the ISO 14001:2004 Standard and requirements of Environmental Management Systems.  The classroom portion focused on how to perform audits for organizations whose goal is to achieve ISO 14001 Certification.  Both Tom and Amanda have worked with organizations to implement Environmental Management Systems based on ISO 14001 and this training allows them to give clients insight regarding the certification aspect of their Environmental Management Systems.
