City of Beatrice, NE Board of Public Works Infiltration and Inflow Study

Beatrice, NE
WLA was selected by the Beatrice, Nebraska Board of Public Works to conduct a study of the sanitary sewer system.  Like many communities with aging infrastructure, Beatrice has a problem with storm water flowing into the sewer.  A typical day in Beatrice produces about 1.4 million gallons of waste sewage, but flows at the wastewater plant have been measured above 13.0 million gallons per day.  WLA is currently conducting an infiltration and inflow study of storm water into the sanitary sewer system. This study includes collection of flow rates in selected manholes in addition to rainfall data. WLA coordinated the planning and installation of temporary flow monitoring equipment to identify and quantify the locations where storm water may be entering the sanitary sewer system. Upon completion of the study, WLA will present the finding to the Board of Public Works.
